NewsFood will play a far greater role at this year's Cape Town Flower & Garden Show taking place at Lourensford Wine Estate from 25 to 28 October. Visitors will be able to choose from a wide selection of food options that encompass an interesting mix of cultures.
Local industries in wine, olives, bottled water, seafood and fresh produce will be at the show this year. Visitors can savour fresh salads and sandwiches, pancakes, gourmet rolls, falafels, Cape Malay cuisine, Thai curries, speciality German sausages, sushi, tasty calamari and even freshly baked croissants, Danish pastries, Florentines and breads.
In addition, Checkers will once again be hosting their Checkers tasting marquee for some light, but tasty refreshments. Cuisine on offer includes the famous Championship Boerewors, meat from the Steakhouse Classic range, the new Certified Natural Lamb range, a selection of quality cheeses from the Cheese World range and Odd Bins wines. Menus have been carefully crafted by food expert Jenny Morris also known as The Giggling Gourmet.
Visitors can sink their teeth into gourmet sandwiches and snacks whipped up by The Lunch Boys, owned by former Springbok Sevens rugby captain, Kevin Foote and barista, Lyndon Barry.
Comfortable shaded seating will provide space to linger in the sunshine, enjoy a picnic and watch the passing show while gazing out across the panoramic vista to the spectacular and unique backdrop of the Helderberg Mountains beyond.
