NewsTalented landscape architect Jeremy Killian from Nature's Blueprint will be exhibiting at the second Cape Town Flower Show while helping Africa's sickest children. His exhibition will enlighten the public of the innovative creations that can be done to the ordinary suburban garden while raising funds for the Red Cross Children's Hospital. The Cape Town Flower Show is being held at the attractive Lourensford Estate in Somerset West from 25 to 28 October 2007.
The Red Cross Children's Hospital is the only specialist hospital dedicated entirely to children in sub-Saharan Africa. Founded in 1956 this extraordinary Hospital stands as a living memorial to the brave soldiers who died in World War II. Most of the 250 000 young patients treated at the Hospital every year are from disadvantaged communities and many of them are referred to this Hospital from all over South Africa, Africa and abroad. Over the last 50 years the Hospital has grown not only in physical infrastructure but also in stature and standing. Medically, it is recognised nationally and internationally as the focal point of paediatric excellence in southern Africa, as a Hospital that provides expert training to health care professionals from the entire sub-continent and as an institution that conducts important and far-reaching research into the illnesses of childhood. To the communities it serves it has become known as a place of caring, of compassion, of healing, and of hope.
Visit the Natures Blueprint stand to show your support to the Red Cross Children's Hospital by purchasing a R20 raffle ticket and stand the chance of winning great prizes. 100% of the money raised from the raffle will be donated to the Children's Hospital Trust, the official fundraising arm of the Red Cross Children's Hospital.
The Children's Hospital Trust is a non-profit organization that relies entirely on the support of donors to realize its aims and objectives. It enjoys a record of sound financial administration and good governance and is able to assure donors that every last cent donated is spent on improving the Hospital. All donations received benefit the Hospital through refurbishment and building projects, and the purchase of life-saving equipment.
